FROM AND ABOUT OUR QUILTING FRIENDS IN AUSTRALIA!
From Pippa in Bundanoon, Australia.  I LOVE THIS PHOTO!
Roos

Dear Pam,
I do enjoy your newsletters and photos. I live in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, in a little place called Bundanoon. I thought you might enjoy this photo taken from my family room window early one morning.

The roos are often around, usually in twos and threes. They hop across the bridge which my husband built. They have been known  to eat the cabbages! I enjoy your photos of your 'Boys' I am afraid we cannot have pets as they would pester and scare away the ducks and wild life which we enjoy so much.
Best Wishes
Pippa  in Bundanoon, Australia

These photos, right as the fires began are the cutest thing!  My friends from OZ tell me that Koalas are nocturnal animals and very seldom drink water.  The photos were sent to me by a friend who said when the photos were taken it was 40+ degreen Celsius every day.  This little one just walked into the back porch looking for a bit of heat relief.  The lady filled up a bucket and this is what happened.  THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING THESE!

Dear Pam,  Thank you so much for mentioning the bush fires here in Victoria.  Although we were not personally affected by the fires, they have destroyed the lives of so many people and each day brings more sad stories.  A lady who is a quilter spoke on ABC radio and told us that she has lost everything, including her stash and sewing machine.  Thanks for the links.  Now that I know where to send them, I am getting together some of my patterns and fabric to forward on to fellow quilters in the bushfire areas.  Thanks again for your kind thoughts.
Kindest regards,
Helen  in Melbourne

Dear Pam
I am on your newsletter email list and thought you might like this email sent to me.  Your efforts in helping the Victorian bushfire victims is appreciated by all Australians.
The generosity if fellow quilters never ceases to amaze me.  Although I do not live anywhere near the fires (600km away) it has just been devastating for all of us.  We live in a beautiful but harsh country.  At the time of the bushfires we were having major flooding in Queensland.  People have been stranded for several months but we, as do Americans, take it all in our stride.
Thank you again.
Susan in Australia

I, too, have friends in the area and have been in touch.  I will be going to visit in May and plan to take a big suitcases full of notions and tools that we have been gathering.  I can't imagine how I would feel losing all the stuff that I use to keep busy and keep from "fretting".I liked Liuxin Newman's column in the Australian Companion magazine I just received  (#35, a pre-Christmas issue) and she expressed a good attitude about keeping quilting in hard economic times.  I also received AP&Q Vol 17, No.7!!, so I'll get your new pat'n sometime later.  Thank you again for your "international" connections.

Hi Pam and everyone at Pam Bono Designs,
This email brought tears to my eyes - again.
I live about 1/2 an hours drive away from where the photo of the koala and Dave was taken.  The day the fires really took off was horrendous - nearly 120 degrees F - very windy too.  It has been forcast that this Tuesday (tommorrow for us) will also be extremely windy; another day that the firefighters are not looking forward to.  We still have 5 major fires burning around Victoria, 2 of wich are just north of the Kinglake area that was devasted on what we now call 'Black Saturday'.
I thought I would let you know that the poor Koala Sam, looks like she is holding Dave's hand, actually had her paw in some water in his hand and she apparently drank 3 bottles of water.  Koalas are not known for drinking much water so this shows how dehydrated and stressed she was.  Just about everyone in Melbournes northern suburbs knows at least 1 person/family affected by these fires.  I know of 1 young women who lost her home and everything in it who was only married last year.  They apparently had minutes to spare to get out of their home before it was engulfed in flames.  Another family I know lost 2 cousins.  But I know 3 other families who still have their homes and their loved ones.  It is a terribly tragedy that hopefully governments, fire authorities and residents will learn from.  It has certainly caused debate over forest clearing and burning off.
I was touched by your request for assistance even though I am not involved with Wildlife Victoria (maybe I should be, but that's another story).  It is nice to know that others from all over the world are willing to help.  I am doing what I can.
 Blessings to all,
 Jo in Australia

Thought you might like to know that the Whangarei Patchwork & Quilting Club in New Zealand are making and donating quilts to the Victoria Quilters Club in order that they may be distributed to those members who have lost everything in the fires.
 Love your website.

Hi Pam,
I want to thank you as an Aussie and for publicising the plight of our burnt out quilters and wildlife and as a quilter for your support.
This week looks like being very bad too with temps in the high 30s (up around 100 deg F) and winds of up to 100 km ph 62 mph. Several fires are still burning, or new since the bad ones. I know there have been more evacuations. Quite a large no. of people are still unaccounted for too. Army reservists have been called in to help with the forensic work of finding and identifying remains.I have "adopted" a lady called Jessica who lost everything in a rented house in Plenty, including her almost finished first quilt. I have been offered an outfit for her from a dressmaker shop I use in Canberra - I am really excited about that - it is so generous. I have a quilt top I will finish this week and post to Jessica. Today I am getting together a few bits and pieces so she can start some more patchwork. It is so rewarding to help someone personally. I have also been working on a quilt with my friendship group to go to Victoria through a quilting group there and crochet squares to go out through our Australian branch of Knit4Charities. It will be ongoing for quite some time with 7000 people made homeless and many more affected. I am also in touch with a lady who is pretty much housebound with a walking frame. She was evacuated over the weekend for a while and will probably need to be again this week. She and her family have been traumatised although not actually burnt out. It will take all these people a very long time to recover. Thanks again for your support of Australians and Australian quilters in particular. I will be keeping your shop at the top of the list when I next need to order supplies.
Regards,
Jenny in Bungendore, NSW, Australia

Hello Pam & Crew
I read your letters with great interest and particularly enjoy the photos of your landscape and the boys. You sure love in "God's Own Country." Here in Melbourne on the eastern outskirts we feel most fortunate to live on an acre and half with abundant vegitation and wildlife. It is special. As you have mentioned we have suffered horrendously in recent weeks and are on high alert for the next two days of high temperatures and changeable winds of up to 150 kms per hour. You have heard the story of Sam which is truly inspirational and gives us all hope in a sometimes sad and unfair world. I don't know if your friends have sent you the power point presentation of Sam and David Tree but I thought I would pass it on anyway. Enjoy!
Best Wishes,
Anne Webber in Melbourne

Dear Pam.............It is so great that you and others overseas are thinking of the poor people who escaped the fires but lost everything.     Your idea of a block from everyone is a great idea, and I shall be putting it forward to my group when we meet on Saturday next.
I am 87 and must have been quilting for 50 yrs. now.    When I lived in the UK I remember buying your very first two books and literally quilted my way through the two books.    Now I live here in W.Australia with a large family and have acquired 4 little great grandchildren in the last five years.    The two grand-daughters each have a Xmas tree skirt from each of the two books, Father Xmas and the Deers.   My daughter in the UK acquired Grandmother's Violets not long ago, then teacups and the Dinaseurs for my little 2 yr. old great grandson Cyrus.    We  love your designs.
The scenes from Pagosa Springs are beautiful.    I have an American family in L.A. and have lived in Connecticut years ago when my husband worked for Exxon.     I can't stop quilting and I think that is why my life has taken me so far, and what a blessing to have ended my years here in Australia with such a loving family.
I wish you and your family lots of luck in producing more and more good quilting patterns.
Joyce Baptist in Australia

Dear Pam,
Thanks for the mention about Australian bush fires on you web site. I am an Australian (from Melbourne) but now live in Malaysia for the past 18 years. I also am a quilter and I also found a quilting web site which is helping out other quilters in Victoria who have been through the fires. This site is asking for 2 inch Hexagons, this is so they can pass onto the Quilting Ladies who have been affected so that they will have some quilting to keep them going and finially have a beautiful quilt.  Thought that this site is also worth a mention, if you could include it on your web site it would give them a lot more support.
Thanks again for your support and thoughts for the people of Australia, expecially the people of Victoria.
(PS) The photo of the fireman saving the Koala was actually on the front page of our newspapers here in Malaysia, It is a photo that has pulled many peoples heart strings.
(PSS) I also must mention, I love your web site and the work you do, its on my fav's and I  check in all the time, keep up the beautiful work.  Thanks. Linda Joy Ting, Malaysia

THIS LETTER HAS A GREAT MESSAGE AT THE END:
Pam, thank you very much. Sam is one of many beautiful animals hurt in these fires. They believe that some specie may have been wiped out and are now extinct. Our state government is forecasting another horror day tomorrow with 100 plus kilometers winds and we have all been warned to evacuate now if we are going. I live in Victoria, Australia and we all now have fire plans whether we are in the danger areas or not.
I live in a small suburb of Melbourne but we lost 9 homes during the fires. Thank god no one was lost and animal loss was minimal. My nephew-in-law (my eldest niece’s husband) is a member of our CFA (Country Fire Authority) and will not talk about what he saw at the fires. My great nephew is only 19 and he is also a CFA member but thank god they did not send him to the fires but he has been assisting in other areas. He also has seen too much. A first cousin of mine lost his house in the fires at Flowerdale and as he is just turned 60 and everything he has worked for went into the house and their property, he is shattered and will not go back. Another cousin got out and was told that their house had gone but on their return it was still standing. Neither of them wants to talk about it so we are just there for them when they are ready.
I am a member of a number of quilting organizations and we are all making quilts. Winter will arrive eventually and the areas that have been most effected are those that get very cold in winter and sometimes get snow. Even now the nights can be cool and without warm clothing or bedding it just adds to their trauma. Quilts, fabric, etc are needed for all age groups and sexes. We have even made little pouches for the animals as they also need warmth and protection whilst they heal.
Sam’s photo is for sale on the newspapers web site and has apparently sold thousands, with the proceeds going to the animal welfare organizations.
Again thank you, it is wonderful to think that people from other countries are thinking of us and it reminds me of my very enjoyable trip to America some three (3) years ago.
Stay safe and stay well. Love your family and friends as you are not sure what will happen tomorrow.
Susan Greene in Melbourne

Hi Pam,
I love your designs .I live in Perth West Australia and like you have personal contacts in the devastating Victorian bush fires. I think it is wonderful and very caring of you to add your letter about the fires on your website. It is truly amazing the help that has been offered to all the victims.
Also our beautiful wildlife that has been such terrible victims as well. I have attached a video for you about SAM the koala, not sure if you have had it sent to you but thought you would enjoy it if not.
You do a wonderful job with your beautiful designs. I am only a newcomer to quilting, 6 months so far but have become quite addicted already so I know I have many more years of wonderful fun and enjoyment ahead of me.
Cheerio from Perth, Australia.  Val

Dear Pam, I read your lastest email with great interest and found it quite consoling that people from other countries are thinking of us here in Australia.  I live in Brisbane which is a long way from the fires but we still felt their pain. I have enclosed the folowing on of Sam's story for you to share. We are busy making quilts for the homeless and those whose possessions were destroyed.  Thank you for your care and concern. Love your patterns!!
All the best, Polly in Brisbane, Australia

Pam-
I am going through my things and contacting my quilting friends to see what they have to help out.  I know if I didn't have my quilting to relax and rejuvenate me I would be so lost.  But to loose everything is something most of us will never experience and have no idea what these people are going through.
While living in Iowa, I was able to help when the Fargo, ND area got flooded, then donated to the NC guild when that area got hit.  Also, about 10 years ago Fons and Porter did a drive to help the quilters in Australia because of the drought and was able to help there.  Each time the gift of giving makes you realize how lucky we are and to be able to hopefully put a smile on someone's face is a wonderful thing.
What I am wondering is do you have an address that I can ship UPS to, as it is usually cheaper that the postal service?
Blessings to you for caring for others.
Happy Quilting-Susan Heller

Hi Pam,
I am a member of a group of 6 women who sew every first and third Tuesday of the month.  I showed them your e-mail about the quilting ladies of Australia.  We are getting some things together to mail to you.  Since we do not meet until March 17 we will be sending it to you after that date.  I will e-mail you when it is in the mail.  Thank you for letting us know.  Everyone was very excited about contributing "stuff"  for these people.
Sincerely, Julie, Cindy, Marsha, Pat, Jackie and Jeanette in Illinois

Really beautiful quilt...would love to win! I enjoy your quilt patterns and share them with my quilting group. One of the ladies loves to do applique and she is in love with your patterns since she saw my Daisies in the Field! Thanks so much for the site!
Jeanne in Pennsylvania

This has to be one of most beautiful quilts that has ever been on a cover of a magazine.  I truly love it and will attempt to make it.  It is truly a breath of spring. Love it and keep up the good work. May God Bless you as you let His beauty shine.
Margie in Mississippi

This website is awesome! I have found so many project and tips/hints that are so useful.  Thank you very much.

I love the Pam Bono method !! First one of my quilts was "OK to be different" sun bonnet sue quilt.
Angie in Colorado

I have spent a delightful two hours on your very wonderful website.  I have watched all your free videos, and already have learned quite a bit.  As a beginning/intermediate quilter, for whom piecing is a challenge (my real love is machine embroidery), I am excited about trying out your techniques using the Angler 2.  I'm also going to make a doll bed quilt using your Baltimore in Bloom Throw embroidery designs.  I can hardly wait to get started!! Thank you for your generous spirit, your intelligently designed website, and most of all for your wonderful patterns and instructions.

To all at Pam Bono Designs,
Thank you all for my order which arrived today. I am very thrilled with the kits and patterns I now just have to find the time to put them all together. Thank you also for the prompt service
Kindest regards, Kerry

Thank you very much for letting us share your beautiful free download BOM.  When I submitted it to the president of the Guild, her husband even thought it was fantastic.  And we certainly will send you pictures!  Blessings to you and yours. Jeanne

Love your products & the way you handle your business.  I appreciate the care you give to the orders when you mail them out.  Thank You.
Kay in Minnesota

Can't thank you enough.  Just got through the instructional videos.  I am so glad they are there.  I got the angler and really didn't know how to use it.  Question:  it seems you leave the original square and only cut off the corner piece to 1/4 inch of seem.  Why?  I have never seen this done except in your patterns.  Thank you so much.  Jean in New Jersey
Jean, we keep the base square or rectangle so that the unit remains square until you become really accurate; then you can cut both seams!

THIS LETTER REALLY GOT TO ME!
Dear Pam;  A dear friend of mine, Dorothy McAtee, has made 3 of the Out of Darkness quilts.  The first, I beleive from Keepsake Quilting using their fabrics - on white with the blue birds and ribbon border.  The second out of her favorite fabrics, and the 3rd on black with the floral border an butterfly in the center.   I need to know dates when they were first released.  Dorothy died unexpectedly in May 2008. She'd finished all three but never had them quilted.  I had a long-armer do them - they are magnificent.  I'll send pictures when they are completely done.  And Dorothy will be the featured quilter in the Young Piecemakers Quilt Guild show in Corona CA on March 28th.  I would like to do a write-up on them so that's why I'd like dates.  Thanks for your help!
Leslie Ann in California

Hi!  I just received your Swans in the Liles pattern and bag of scraps yesterday.  The pattern is beautiful tho' I must say it will take this beginner a while to complete this one. Where would the world be if we didn't challenge ourselves?  LOL. I'm sure your "boys" help you choose the fabrics for the scrap bags.  I'm so impressed I wish I could order a bunch more!  The fabrics included were amazing and I'm delighted with each one.  Tell the boys they did a GREAT job there. ;o)  Each time I look at your pictures of them they bring back many wonderful memories of our "boy".  A cute little wrinkled character that we miss dearly.  Keep up the great work.  Can't wait til' I can order more!

I have made two "Out of the Darkness" quilts and they are truly gorgeous.  I love the detail of your instructions and the patterns are fun to do.  Donna in Washington

Just wanted to let you know how glad I am to see the Take Heart figurines in your emails.  I saw these at Hallmark when buying my Christmas Jim Shore's, and absolutely fell in love with them.We seem to have the same tastes.  No wonder I have all your books and several of your patterns.  Thanks for your continued inspiration.
Barbara

I wanted to thank you for the excellent service you have provided.  Awhile back, I was looking for a particilar pattern for a quilt I wanted to make for my sister's golden wedding anniversary. I sent an email and received a call back directing me to a magazine issue that contained the pattern. Also, last week I ordered 2 patterns over the internet and received them this weekend.  The patterns are so superior to any I have seen anywhere.  I cannot wait to start my new projects.  I check your website every day to make sure that I have not missed anything new. Thank you again.

I love your website. Malaysia may not be familiar to you but I'm happy to know you thro this website.  I'm just starting to learn doing patchwork and quilts and love to do a lot in future.

Just rec'd my pattern (snowmen/flakes) - what a nicely-designed and printed pattern!   Good illustrations, easy to follow instructions, and high quality paper.  This is my first Pam Bono on-line order, and I am extemely satisfied with your service and will recommend your site to my quilt buddies.

I have received 1 your book. Your books are very beautifull, easy.

Wow!!  Just had to drop you a note of thanks: Thank you SO MUCH for so far never disappointing me!!  Each order I have placed is exactly what I receive; no shortages, no unannounced "not in stock" messages.  I won't mention another site that I can NOT say this about (but I will just say the signers of our Declaration would be very disappointed!!). Love to discover your new additions.  Thank you again!!
Regards, Sandy

Seen ads in quilt magazines; found a pattern I liked on ebay selling for an outrageous amount and thought I'd rather buy from the designer; looked Pam Bono Designs up on the internet and found this site.

I love your designs, The Quilter Magazine cover is beautiful with your quilt featured.... Debbie in Texas

Breath of Spring is a great looking quilt, I'm planning on making it.  I'm a teacher, so it will have to be this summer.  I have made your snowmen tablerunner.  It was so simple and sewed together very fast so I was able to finish it (after Christmas during break time).  Great designs, love your dogs.  Susan in Washington

I have many books of Pam Bono and saw her quilt on the cover of The Quilter mag. Stunning!!  Kimberly in New York

I bought the magazine "The Quilter Magazine" just for the "Breath of Spring" quilt.  It's beautiful.  Linda in Ohio

VERY INSPIRATIONAL.  THANKS FOR SHARING PATRICIA!
I get the Quilter and I only subscribe to two magazines and the Quilter is the best.  I have seen your patterns and often wondered if you had more now I finally know.  Quilting is my blood line, I had some eye problems and was seeing double and I could not sew and I got terribly depressed and then I got some real strong reading glasses since they have yet to figure out what is wrong with my eyes but after I got the glasses I showed my husband how to cut and he has cut me out several projects and now I feel like I can live again as long as I can sew. Thank You for your site and patterns.
Patricia

I love your quilt designs and embroidery designs. I recently purchased your Baltimore in Bloom book & designs and can't wait to make the quilt!
Stephanie in Maryland

I have made several of your designs and love the ease of doing them.  Your methods makes sense.  Thanks.  Juanita in Ohio

I have just completed the poppy quilt and it is perfect. Thank you Pam for making such exact patterns. Will be using more of your patterns, that's for sure. Diane in Florida

I just had to email you and let you know how very much I enjoy your emails. I look forward to seeing all your new items, your quilts that are in the magizines etc. I love doing any of your patterns. Keep up the great work.  Oh yes I have two cats a black one that is 13 years old and named Stink and believe me he is a real stinker. The other cat is an orange one the is about 1 1/2 years old. her name is Berkshire (after our campground where we live) but we call her Berkie. she is total hoot. She would give the boys a real run for their money.
Again Thank you for your emails, books and patterns.
Bert

Hi, I just finished the blocks to A New Beginning, and really prefer the border that's on Out of the Darkness to the ribbon border. Can I purchase just the border pattern? BTW I love your patterns. I made the sunflower quilt for my daughter and it's one of my favorites!
Thanks, Cathy in New Jersey

I just wanted to tell you a little story. We have a group, that make quilts for children in care of Chilldren's Aid Society. We sometimes have fabric donated and the odd time a Joanns kit. Recently we had donated, a complete kit...Out of the Darkness!!!!! One of our "particular" quilters has taken it on as a project to have as a raffle quilt sometime in the future, proceeds going to buy batting or fabric. We couldn't belive our good luck!! Margaret is working on it and really enjoying the process. Giving the  tone of your recent newsletter,I just new I had to tell our little story. The last thing I purchased was the Poppy quilt and I need to get at it soon, as I plan to donate it to the Canadian Regiment my father was a member of during the war. I hope to do this on November 11th, so I'd better move my butt! Again Thanks for your great patterns and "kits"

Dear Pam.
Just a quick note to tell you I got your big book of rotary cut quilts and made the safari path one. I am thrilled with it and can not believe how well it all went together. It is huge! It is a gift for my sister who loves all things african and she thinks it is great.

I fell in love with the Daisies In The Cabin quilt the moment I saw it so I downloaded and printed the pattern and found the exact fabrics. Sunday, December 28, 2008, I finished sewing it.  It is so beautiful - and so BIG!  Thank you so much for such a beautiful quilt.
Susan in North Dakota

I love all your patterns and look forward to purchaseing more in the near future!  Deborah in NSW, Australia

I just wanted to tell you--I absolutely love your patterns and quilt kits!!
I have ordered from several shops across the U.S. and you are without a doubt the best.  I work as a school bus driver, so most of my quilts are made during the summer.  Not the norm for most quilters.  Keep the beautiful items coming, because I'm always watching for something new.
Karen in Ohio

I just finished the table centerpiece of Bursting Buds.  I added one more outer row to the square making it larger and a perfect wallhanging/large center piece.  I freehand machine quilted it with varigated burgundy thread.  Thank you for the lovely, easy to follow patterns.  Keep up the good work.

Pam,  I am a senior citizen that loves making little things for my children and grandchildren.  I am always looking for easy quilting ideas to make meaningful little things as I cannot handle large quilts etc.  This is a wonderful way to keep myself busy.   I love your subject book and my first project will be the "A Tisket a Tasket" for myself, children and perhaps some friends.  Should you design another one book please put me on your mailing list.
THANK YOU.
Teresa in Pennsylvania

I have purchased patterns from you and yesterday I completed and gave my second gift to my bosses wife.  (Runner Ducks)she was so pleased with it, but I must state I did enjoy putting both together.  My first project was the angel.  Thank you.

Hi there,
You talk so much about people who write to you and I just never thought to do so, so I’m doing it now.  I have your Big Book of Rotary Cut Quilts (not sure if I’m naming it correctly as I don’t have it in front of me).  I had my daughter pick out a quilt for her graduation and I’ve attached pictures of it.  I made pillow cases to match.  The bed it is on is not hers so it doesn’t quite fit big enough in the picture, hers is a double standard and mine is a queen but the room is easier to take pictures in.  At any rate, she loves it still of course and that was in 2004.  If you look closely you’ll see that my quilter and friend quilted the moon, sun & stars on it.
In 2005 a friend of my daughter’s and my friend’s daughter asked for the same quilt, she liked my daughter’s so much! So my friend bought your book too and made the same quilt!
I’m getting ready to make the hearts and roses quilt for my sister, she picked it out, out of all the books in my library.
I have always been attracted to your patterns, the way they are pieced and the artistic style, and the fact that you give many ideas for one pattern and/or different sizes so keep ‘em coming!
Thank you!

Lanette in Alaska

Dear Pam,
The "Out Of The Darkness" kit arrived this afternoon--am all set to go up and read through it and get my fabrics linedup and marked with their respective numbers.  It is so pretty and will be fun!  Thanks so much for your quick service and quality products.  Will send a picture when I get it done.  My poor husband is already expecting leftovers and casseroles...oh, well!!
Susan

Just completed APRIL SHOWERS from your DEAR PAM book... beautiful and thank you for such easy instructions....
Thanks Much!  Barbara

Hi Pam
Great news.......my Remembrance Day Quilt Kit arrived yesterday in good order. I am so pleased with the materials......they are beautiful......I will just have to look at the fabrics for awhile before I start the quilt!  My husband's father was killed in WWII and that is why I wanted to do the quilt -  in remembrance of him.  My husband was only a year old when his father was killed so, of course, he has no memories of him; but then, I expect there are a number of children these days in the same situation. I would like to know what colour fabric you used for the backing.  I think I saw in the directions that there is an allowance for the binding in the dark green fabric.  What would the price be for the fabric for the backing?
I have just finished the sewing together the top for 'Wedding Ribbon' and it has turned out quite well.  I was a little nervous to start that one with all the little pieces and angles but I am pleased with the results and your Angler 2 helped (and now, I have an extra Angler 2 that came with the Remembrance Day kit).
Thanks again.......happy quilting to you!!

Love your patterns and fabrics!

I bought your angler and just love it now after using it for 4 years all the markings have been rubbed off. So off to the quilt store and purchased another one.  I could not live without it.  I got quite a few of my sewing friends to purchase it too as when they saw how easy it made sewing quilt pieces they needed it too.  Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your angler and your web site.

I love your website. Malaysia may not be familiar to you but I'm happy to know you thro this website.  I'm just starting to learn doing patchwork and quilts and love to do a lot in future.

Other than the fabrics that appear on the website do you have others?  The fabric is amazing!

I purchased your Cabin Window kit and am so enjoying putting the puzzle together for that is what I consider it to be.  I am already on block 11.

Dear Pam:  I just wanted to let you know that after collecting many of your patterns, and several of your books, along with the Angler 2, I finally dove in and made something from one of them, and now I can't wait to have some time (maybe after the next couple of weeks to try more of your wonderful designs).  I made 20 of the poinsettia placemats for my doll club's Christmas party which will be at my house on Thursday.  I actually took the fabrics to our time share in Virginia to cut in early October, but could not get back to going ahead with them until after a retreat in Virginia also the second week in November.  So, I have now completed all of them just in time. I had in my stash 5 or 6 yards of a wonderful Christmas fabric with large poinsettia which I used for the backing.  I did not bind each one, but cheated a little, and sandwiched them right sides together with a Hobbs thermore batting in between and turned them inside out, pressed them again with the help of Best Press (another of the most wonderful things on the market.).  I look forward to making more things of yours, and am so glad that I finally got into it, rather than being just a collector of fabric, books and tools.  Great techniques and wonderful easy to follow directions. I consider myself to be an intermediate quilter at this stage.  Have a wonderul holiday season, and a glorious New Year.

Hi Pam,
When I began quilting just six months ago I felt then and feel doubly
now very fortunate that your book, "Rotary Cutter Quilts" was one of
the first I chose.  Typical of me, I didn't start with a little
hanging or place mat.  No, I chose "Sunflowers" for a King sized bed!
(Added another column 2/4 in the center) What that book really taught
me was your wonderful techniques for piecing.  Other authors seem to love to sell unnecessary notions and rulers when by following your methods so much time, confusion and money can be
saved!  Its just common sense.
Thank you and Good Wishes to all for Warm and Happy Holidays!
Kit

This lady purchases a lot from us, and is referring below to our "Banquet Of Quilts" book:
Pam,  Also I've used the recipe on the last page a number of times and of course, everyone loved it and ate it all (Colorado Party Taco Dip).
I've told you before how much I love your patterns, kits, and the fabric I've bought.
You are amazing with how personable you are and how well you deal with people like me who are interested in placing orders.
Thanks for everything.

Dory - I just love quilters like you whether they purchase or not!!

A couple of weeks ago I received a call from a lady in Canada who needed a bit more fabric for our Remembrance Poppy Quilt.  I received this today (12/22/08)
Did you hear all the hoopin' and hollerin' or even feel the earth shake a little on Saturday night at 6:30?  If so that was me as I finished putting on the last border on my "Poppies Remembrance" quilt.  It is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!  Thank you , thank you, thank you for designing such a fantastic quilt.  The fabrics you chose are so beautiful together.  I am having Linda Matthews in Visalia custom quilt it for me.  She does great custom quilting.  My friend,Elaine, who I made the quilt for came over to see the finished piecing job .  I don't know who squeeled or jumped up and down the most, Elaine or me!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

ABOUT OUR NEWSLETTER AND "THE BOYS":
Carolyns GirlsReceived in February from Carolyn in Florida.  A photo of her "Scottie Girls" for The Boys.  All decked out ready for the Super Bowl.  Steelers Fans for sure.  Carolyn also sent me an adorable Bulldog statue.  Thanks Carolyn!

BeefyEverything about your web-site is fabulous. I recently had the sheer joy of dog-sitting Beefy--who looks so much like your "Boys." He loves the snow here in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, but I'm sure he would sympathize with your boys being "sled dogs!"  Please give them hugs from Beefy and me! Keep up the great work you're doing in so many areas.
Pamela from Newberry, Michigan

Youall have GOT to see what "The Boys" received below!  They were thrilled!
The GirlsThis is from Bonnie.  The greeting was:  MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOUR "BOYS" FROM MY "GIRLS".  I wrote back to Bonnie and thanked her and asked her what kind of puppies she thought we would get from this mix.  Here is her reply:
Hi Pam.....my girls are CAIRN TERRIERS.  The blonde is "Lacey", 11 yrs old, and the black is "Megs", she's 5.  Both are females and they kyak with me in the summer.  Lacey sits on the bow and Megs on my lap.  Great little girls, and we love them. I think it would make a Caribull!! Bonni, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada

Kairi Cat
From Kathy:

 Dear Pam and boys:
This is my little cat (now almost 3 yrs old in human years, tho).  Her name is Kairi.  She has a sibling brother, Yoshi (not shown here) that she swats at all the time.  She said "you are there, and I is here, so I is completely safe." (kitty grammar)

Hi Pam,  I live in New Zealand and have just received your latest newsletter (thank you).  I am inspired to write by your saying that the Hulk is always reaching out to take your hands, to tell you about my own (now deceased) bulldog, The Luggage (you'd have to know Terry Pratchett's books to understand).   I always felt that he would have walked hand-in-hand with me if he were capable of coordinating the other three legs (which I doubt).  I wonder if it is a bulldog trait?  The photo I have attached shows him in his impressive 'on-guard' mode - there was someone walking up the drive, so he had one eye open!
Kind regards to you and the boys,
Prue from New Zealand

Squeaks
This is "Squeaks".
Pam
We call him Squeaks, he is amusing and affectionate.  Miss a dog though.  Had 2 Shelties for almost 14 years.
Must say, I always spark up when something from Pam Bono Designs appears in my email.   I know there
will be beautiful, inspiring designs to enjoy.  Usually, I don't read a newsletter completely, but yours are
so relaxing and personal, it's like notes from a friend I have not yet met. This one was exceptionally touching.
Love your work, have so many of your books and now have my eye on Little Things Mean A Lot.
Keep those pictures coming.

Bert

I love the newsletter and `the Boys`and of course your patterns are absolutely beautiful.

About our January 26, 2009 Newsletter:
A blessed day it has been since I found your site, ordered, and received my first newsletter today.
Your honest appraisal of your integrity and business ethic have really touched me.  You are sincere and as a business the problems you may face, you are honestly and forthrightly sharing.  All of us must come together and be good Americans by helping, not raising prices.  The shops that seem to have no idea that their customers do not have to pay exhorbiant prices but can shop with you all, I have deleted from my favorite list.  Thank you and May God bless us all.    I wish I could have you all over for tea.  I will support you as you seek to make an honest living.
Connie in Texas, no I do not have a horse.
Connie, thanks so much!  We sure try!  Love the comment about the horse!

Love your new pattern in "The Quilter", Breath of Spring. I have pulled a lot from stash, must purchase the background and  a few more pieces. I think the quilt is breath taking.  I hope you will be coming to AQS in Paducah, and will stop by your booth if your there.

Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your newsletter and your beautiful designs.  It is fun to get to know "the boys" and to see pictures of the mountains in Colorado, espically here in Illinois where everything is so flat!
Thanks!  Linda in Illinois

I love the pictures of your dog in the FEDEX truck! My husband is a driver for FEDEX Express. He carries dog treats for all of the dogs on his route. He is always telling us about the dogs on his route and how they climb up into the truck and go to the treat container! When he is on vacation he leaves a list with the fill in driver so the dogs still get their treats! Your pictures just made my day.
Michelle

Hello,
Just wanted to tell you I LOVE your doggies!!!!!  We had a red bulldog for 10 years and got him from a rescue when he was 4 years old.  Thunder was such a wonderful boy.  He looked kind of like your red dog............lots and lots of CUTE wrinkles.  As far as I know bullies don't get social security.  LOL ;o)  Please keep sending pictures.  Is Molly a new bully?????
Shelley
Molly is my new office manager, but she also takes care of "The Boys" when we are out of town!
